Planned not planned

Planned Not Planned.

In summary, my flight from Vancouver to Zurich was delayed for 4 hours. I was literally sitting in the plane immobile finishing up the second movie of what was to be a long journey of waiting. Because of this, my connecting flight to Barcelona had also been re-booked to leave 6 hours later than was planned. This, effectively, led me to miss the last train to Pamplona and so I had to spend a night in Barcelona.

We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. — Joseph Campbell

Planning. It’s something we all do. What classes should we take next year? Where should we eat tonight? Where do I want to be 5 years down the road? This happens even subconsciously without us knowing it. Don’t get me wrong, planning is good. It gives life an order, a security, a direction. But sometimes we try to adhere to what we think we need to do so much that we become so narrow-sighted,missing out on all the other opportunities that are around us.

  1. I totally agree. It’s wise to plan ahead, but sometimes we don’t leave enough room for spontaneity which can lead us to new challenges, growth and learning experiences. Sometimes it’s good to leave things unplanned.
    Good read!

  2. The quote really resonated with me. The older I get, the more I feel like there is to lose. Slowly, I’m learning to just let things be and try not to control so much of my life. I think one of the best parts of travelling is the unknown and, look, now you have a story to tell 🙂 I’m so excited that you’re going on a trip. I hope you have a blast!!
